Environmental Monitor / Field Technician

Seasonal and project-based

Construction environmental monitoring, erosion and sediment control, wildlife sweeps and salvages.

Indigenous Environmental Monitor

Project-based, on your own territory

Nation-side monitoring of a proponent's work against permit and certificate conditions, as part of a Nation monitor or guardian program. Training provided.

Senior Environmental Monitor / Field Lead

Project-based

Leads a crew on an active spread; liaises with the prime's environmental and safety leads.

Biologist / Qualified Environmental Professional

Contract and full-time

Assessments, permitting support, wildlife programs.

What We Look For

Certifications and attitude

The tickets a site expects on day one, and the ones that set a candidate apart.

Expected

  • Level 1 first aid (OFA 1 or equivalent)
  • WHMIS
  • Valid Class 5 licence with a clean abstract
  • ATV/UTV certification
  • For pipeline work: CSTS/PST and Ground Disturbance 201

Assets

  • Swiftwater rescue
  • Electrofishing
  • Bear-aware training

We support training for members who bring the attitude and want the certifications.

Safety-sensitive work

All field positions are safety-sensitive and subject to Ravken's drug and alcohol policy and to client site-access requirements, which on pipeline and energy sites usually follow the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace. Ravken accommodates disability, including substance dependence, in line with the BC Human Rights Code.

Indigenous applicants

Preference is given to Gitxsan, Tahltan and other Indigenous applicants. Ravken operates this as a special program under section 42 of the BC Human Rights Code to build Indigenous capacity in the environmental sector.
